Our home away from home, we have been holidaying down in Yamba for some time now and it is fast becoming the perfect getaway for many others. If you are lucky enough to be visiting Yamba soon and looking for things to do, we have put together the perfect guide to experiencing Yamba at it’s finest. Whether you have a lot of time or only a little, these are our favourite spots to eat, shop and relax.

SUNRISE SURF

Start your morning the right way with nothing else but a sunrise surf!

Yamba is blessed to be surrounded by numerous beach options. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced, you are sure to find something to suit you. The beauty of Yamba and its numerous beach options allows crowds to be nicely spread out and at sunrise, you are likely to score a surf by yourself or only with a handful of others. On the rare occasion there are no waves about, jump in the ocean for a morning dip, the rest of the day will thank you for it!

YAMBA FARMERS MARKET

Next on your morning agenda, which definitely deserves a mention - especially if you are lucky enough to be stopping through Yamba on a Wednesday morning, we recommend you stop by the local farmer's markets that are located in its divine location, right where the river mouth opens up into the sea.

All produce is as fresh and organic as they come, you’ll easily want to load up on what everyone has to offer. However, a crowd favourite is our lovely friends behind ‘Ashby Sourdough,’ their delicious sourdough breads, focaccias and popular sought-after ‘cinnamon buns’ has us drooling every time! Stopping by on a weekend? Every 4th Sunday of the month Yamba also holds the ‘Yamba Sunday River Markets’ which is home to not only fresh produce of the area, but to lots of handmade and small, upcoming business from the north coast.

ANGOURIE BLUE & GREEN POOLS

Before the day is over, it really wouldn’t be a trip to Yamba if you haven’t checked out the iconic blue and green pools at Angourie. Originally a rock quarry, the pools were ‘accidentally’ made when a spring was hit when they were collecting the rocks to supply the build of Yamba break wall.

Nowadays, the pools provide the perfect freshwater swimming haven, as well as a hot spot for those with a touch of daredevil inside... with both pools offering numerous jumps from different heights for a quick hit of adrenaline.
Although most of the year the pools are the perfect spot for a refreshing dip, algae blooms mean the pools may not be suitable for swimming at times, especially during the summer months and it is recommended to take care before entering.

KARRIKIN

Dinner time! Make a B-Line straight for Karrikin! Also fondly remembered as ‘Leche,’ Owners Clare and Zac decided it was time for a change and to join the restaurant scene. Now becoming a definite dinner favourite among locals and visitors of Yamba.

The food here is absolutely out of this world, with lots of hints of Australian culture and flavours, every dish just explodes and melts in your mouth. The cocktail and drink list is just as delicious too! Make yourself comfy and enjoy the backyard style dining, and if you are lucky, you may even get to enjoy some live music to top it off.

Cheers!

We hope you have loved our little guide to our favourite spots of Yamba, we can assure you there are many more amazing spots to be enjoyed. Happy exploring!
